Destructive Fire Leaves Wattsburg Family without Home
A couple and their four young children lost everything in a destructive house fire in Wattsburg on Saturday.
The smoky fire was reported around 8:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of Wattsburg Rd. near Creek Rd.
The couple and their four children — two boys and two girls, all under the age of 10 — managed to call 911 and get out of the home safely.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke pouring from the two-story section of the house, according to fire chief Brad McCray.
The fire spread to the single-story portion of the home as well.
Firefighters received help from eight neighboring fire companies, but it took about two hours to get the fire under control.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
