Erie County Identifies Driver Killed after SUV Runs into House in Millcreek Township
The Erie County Coroner's office has identified the man who was killed, after crashing his SUV into a home in Millcreek.
He's identified as 38 year old Robert Corbett of Millcreek.
The fiery crash happened just before 2:30 Sunday morning, inside of a home on the corner of Cherry Street and West Gore Road.
Millcreek Police arrived at the scene to find heavy flames and smoke pouring out of the home.
According to Millcreek Police Chief Carter Mook, Corbett hit the house at a high rate of speed, drove through the living room, ended up in the kitchen, and caught fire.
Corbett died at the scene.
The two people who live there and their dog, got out unharmed.
"The homeowners are very fortunate that the staircase is situated in a way that the stair case emptied at the front of the hosue, so it allowed the occupants to get out and not have to try to fight through the flames," said Chief Carter Mook. "But, it was certainly a tragic situation for all concerned."
Coroner Lyell cook is still waiting on toxicology results before ruling an exact cause of Corbett's death.
