AHN St. Vincent Hospital is hosting a free lung cancer awareness event to educate the public about lung cancer screenings, early detection and treatment options.

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 11 at the McGarvey Learning Center. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

According to AHN, two-thirds of Americans are unaware that lung cancer screening is available, highlighting the critical need for increased public awareness.

The goal of the event is to address the gap by providing valuable information and showcasing the advanced surgical technologies available here in Erie.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about lung cancer screening: Understand who is at risk and why early detection is crucial.
  • Meet leading experts: Connect with Dr. Kiet Ma, DO, Pulmonologist, and Dr. Thomas Person, MD, Thoracic and Cardiac surgeon, and learn about their experience in early-stage lung cancer detection and treatment.
  • Experience advanced surgical technology: Participate in hands-on demonstrations of the ION and Da Vinci surgical systems by Intuitive Surgical, which are revolutionizing minimally invasive lung cancer surgery.

“Early detection is key to successful lung cancer treatment,” says Dr. Kiet Ma, AHN Saint Vincent pulmonologist.  “We are excited to share information about lung cancer screening as well as our expertise and the advancements in technology that are improving outcomes for our patients.”

The event is free and open to the public. However, attendees are asked to RSVP as space is limited. Individuals interested in attending can RSVP by calling 814-490-9877.
