Families took advantage of a break in the snow by heading out to the Erie Zoo this weekend.

In honor of the zoo's 100 year celebration, they hosted a Winter Wonderland event.

In addition to checking in on the animals in the snow, children could enjoy crafts and music. People could also purchase a gift at the animal art show and sale. There was also an opportunity to give back as people were encouraged to donated new toys for Taradoodle's Toybox of Erie, an organization that gives gifts to children in need.

For every toy donated, children could get free face painting or a glitter tattoo.

The zoo plans to host more winter hours in the coming months.
