Gas prices are a penny lower in Western Pennsylvania this week at $3.423 per gallon, according to AAA East Central's Gas Price report.

The national average for a gallon of gas has risen a penny over the past week to $3.02. According to AAA, it has been close to the $3 level for five weeks, and 31 states already have averages below $3. 

Today's national average is five cents less than a month ago and five cents less than a year ago.
