The heavy wind gusts from overnight led to power outages and damage around the region on Monday.

Penelec has been working to restore power to thousands of customers, and FirstEnergy spokesperson Todd Meyers informed Erie News Now that over 10,000  customers in Erie County were impacted from Sunday night into Monday morning.

That number has been continually going down as repairs are being completed.

The First Warning Weather Team tracked peak wind gusts overnight Sunday into Monday, the highest in Erie being 46 mph. Meadville ramped up to 55 mph.

With several power lines down and road closures throughout the region, Meyers said contractors from Ohio were brought in to help, and several electrical networks were reconfigured to a neighboring line so people had access to power.
